Celebrate the nation’s favourite fruit at an Apple Day near you

Celebrate the nation’s favourite fruit at an Apple Day near you. These annual festivals of all things appley are taking place around the country throughout this month, so look out for the event nearest you.

National Apple Day!

Among the biggest is the National Apple Festival, held at the home of largest collection of apples in the country, Brogdale Fruit Collection in Kent (www.brogdalecollections.org). You can taste over 1000 of the staggering 2,200 different varieties they grow in their orchards, as well as enjoying live music, apple pie eating contests and talks.

Most Apple Days offer a fruit identification service, your opportunity to put a name to that mystery tree in the corner of your garden. And some, including the Brockhampton Estate in Herefordshire and Croome in Worcestershire, will juice your surplus crop: just bring along your windfalls plus lots of containers to take home your apple juice in, and the apple experts will do the rest.

Grow Your Own Apple Tree

If all that fires you up to grow your own apple tree, the good news is that now is the perfect time to plant – so pop into our garden centre here in Stocksfield and we’ll help you choose a tree. You could be celebrating your own home-grown Apple Day this time next year!
